SCROLL FOR ENGLISH

………………………..

My leftist friends see in the negotiations between the Eurogroup and Greece the attempt of a small country to motivate its much bigger partners to reform at last the Eurozone.
I don’t share their view – I rather have a deja-vu. I’m in the Council of Ferrara-Florence. The powerless Greek emperor seeks the help of those whom his subjects ideologically despise most. He enters Florence with his custody. He won’t lose much time with making the case for changes that can be implemented only years later – he’s anxious to get help now. The streets are crowded. It’s not the political debate which attracted the people though. Someone said that these “Graeci” have an exotic outfit. And the Florentines are a curious species.
