Make aesthetics Kantian again

Just reposting from The Guardian this time I’m afraid. Much dispute to be made over the issue if at least public buildings are intersubjectively beautiful if classicist but if classicism is at stake, I cannot soberly argue and it will be about my taste, my being Greek etc. Before I plead for an order issued by Trump, I am giving you the article.

Just a moment: before I continue with reposting, I just remembered – and I only want to share this with you – this passage where Gramsci writes about Latin in Italian high schools the point being: We won’t abolish it just because Gentile who wanted Latin was a right-wing Hegelian. But maybe it’s my and his taste again…

  1. LIEBEN LIEBEN DANK Stamatios for all of your wonderful posts .. Sorry its been a rather tough year .. i lost my dearest Aunt to Covid conditions and an Uncle as well in Canada and I havent been able to respond at all to your mail but i enjoy them very much .

I wish you a wonderful Christmas nest in your home and all the patience one needs to make it past these lastfew months until we are all vaccinated .. I hope .. YOU being system relevant in the education sphere will definitely be top on the list .

Teaching art especially sculpture is hardly what it once was online . Im glad iu did as much presence teaching before thsi lockdown as i could .. otherwise i would be up a tree hanging from my ears and screaming inane remarks about trump and how the world is ending .. I hope i have the chance to meet you in the NEW post covid World .. in the meantime I hope you are resonating with the planets ( to use that Hartmut Rosa word)

and with the coming coming ..

I was in the Augustine Church today with 3 other people .. and we sang .. all 100 meters apart .. it was a very nice Christmas message given by one of our librarians from Uni Erfurt . I thgink of you and hope you are happy and wise and creative as ever .

    Liebe Grüße

from my last office visit am Hügel in 2020..

ps LOVED your remark on my painting..

i hope to get back to that soon . perhaps i should retire sooner rather than in 3 terms time .. teaching is draining but i can use that terrible mammon .

    herzlich

    Lelah

    • Time travel is the only appropriate Christmas present for someone who lost Arcadia. Erfurt from 2005 to 2016 is to me what Paradise was to Milton. Lost. But – taraaaa: another citation – things must change if they are to remain the same. And maybe there is a way back to Arcadia after all. Until then I wish you merry Christmas, and an inspiring break.

PS: Have I ever mentioned that my favourite of your works is the Swing?
