Die Einrichtungshäuser kämpfen gegen den Diebstahl von Büchern, die in ihren Ausstellungsräumen als Deko dienen. IKEA Deutschland hat z.B. schwedische Bücher. Bei so wenig Sprechern des Schwedischen in der Bevölkerung hat die Firma das Problem gelöst.
Vitra Design hatte eine andere Idee. Bereits Platon, Politeia, 373a-374d, argumentiert gegen Luxusmöbel, um eine militaristische Pointe zu machen. Ich bin mir nun nicht sicher, ob Platon diebstahlsicher im Einrichtungshaus wäre. Zu berühmt… Aber Bloch, der im Prinzip Hoffnung, Suhrkamp, FfM, 1976, S. 577, Jahwe einen Luxusgott nennt, ist anscheinend vor Diebstahl durch Vitra-Design-Kunden gefeit. Die Kunden brauchen nicht die kollektivistische Polemik zu lesen, um mit ihrem Kaufverhalten eine individualistische Aussage zu treffen.

To prevent stealing, IKEA Germany has Swedish books as decoration. Vitra Design had another idea: they put Ernst Bloch on the bookshelves. Already Plato made a militaristic point against luxurious furniture in Republic, 373a-374d. But Plato is too famous to be secure from stealing. In contrast, Bloch, who calls in Prinzip Hoffnung, Suhrkamp, FfM, 1976, p. 577, Jehova a God of luxury, runs no danger to be stolen by customers of Vitra Design. Customers don’t need to read the collectivist critics of their individualist practices to execute the latter properly.
